Rachel #56077183{Juvenile Female/German Shepherd Mix} Hi there, I'm Rachel! I'm a puppy (about 6 months old) with a heart full of love and a spirit full of curiosity. I'm sweet, friendly, and a bit goofy - always ready to make you laugh with my antics. My crooked ear? Oh, that's just one of my charming quirks! I love exploring new things, sniffing out adventures, and playing until I'm all tuckered out. Then, I'm ready for cuddles and a good nap. I'm a loyal friend, always ready to lend a paw or a comforting nuzzle. Adopting me means endless love, joy, and companionship. In order to adopt me, you must fill out an application on our website at www.spcaluzernecounty.org/adoption-application.html. ... See MoreSee Less

This week is going to be a hot one! 🥵🔥 From today through Sunday, we’re expecting temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s ☀️

To keep your pets safe, remember these tips:

1. Keep your dogs off black asphalt as much as possible. At 87 degrees, asphalt can reach temperatures of up to 143 degrees! So, keep pets in the grass and shady areas. And remember, if it’s too hot for your feet - it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!

2. Keep walks and potty breaks short (up to 10 minutes only!) And make sure you’re not leaving your dog outside for long periods of time.

3. Make sure your dog has plenty of fresh, cool water both inside and outside.

4. Know the signs of heat stroke in dogs. They include panting, noisy breathing, drooling, and decreased responsiveness. If you suspect heat stroke, take your dog to an ER immediately!

Corn/Ernie is searching for his forever family!

This handsome boy came to us last fall as a stray and we never claimed. He is now estimated to be close to 2 years old and is some sort of Lab mix. He needs a home with no children. He does well with other dogs, especially those who match his size and energy. He is still working on his general manners, but has completed training courses in the past. He is very food motivated. He needs a strong owner who will continue to guide him in the right direction. He is a wild boy who loves to run and play, he needs a family who will properly release his energy so he can continue to become the best boy that he can be. He is very affectionate and intelligent, loving all adults that he meets and thriving with structure. We know his perfect home is out there!

Cleo needs a family 🩷

Cleo is a new surrender, she is 13 years young. She is searching for a quiet home where she can live out her golden years as the true princess that she is. She is not a fan of other cats, but may do well with calm dogs. She is front declawed. She prefers women over men, but with some patience, she does well with any adult who respects her. She is not a fan of her back end touched, but is a loving girl who enjoys being near you. We really hope her shelter stay is short, as this is no place for a senior like her. Please consider this sweet girl!

Blake is the last of his siblings to need a home! 😢

Blake is a 9-10 week old mixed breed, estimated to grow to around 35/40lbs. He is a typical puppy who loves everyone and everything. He loves playing with other dogs and would love a playmate in his home. His adopter will need to continue his training and socialization to ensure he grows into a well rounded adult. He is doing very well with crate training.

Molly needs a home!

Molly is a 2 year old Great Dane searching for a home with no small children or other animals. She is well trained and house broken. She is a very sweet girl who is easily startled by loud noises, which is why she needs a child free home. She is a wonderful dog and would excel in a home that understands her breed and needs.

Post for Dallas and Chasie:
Dallas (black male) and Chasie (brown tabby female) are looking for a special home that will welcome them both. These one-year-old cats were found as kittens in 2023 at a local business and are each other’s besties. They spend time playing together every day. They also support each other (i.e. cuddle together) when feeling insecure. Dallas is a black love bug who loves watching the evening news or television on the couch with his foster parents and being petted (especially lower back rubs). He also loves hiding under a blanket during his daytime nap, playing with toys, especially crinkly balls, and Chasie. Chasie loves sniffing fingers, chasing bugs, sleeping in a sunny chair, her daily quota of treats, and Dallas. Both cats are active and entertaining as they explore but timid by nature and wary of strangers and loud noises. Dallas loves being petted, but Chasie does not like to be touched although she will happily sniff a hand or watch her humans. Both are good with other cats and non-aggressive but have never been with dogs. They will need a home with a patient owner(s) who gives them time to adjust to a new space and family. They are currently in a foster home (not at the shelter). Both are neutered or spayed and up to date on vaccines. Recommend no young children. They have been around a four-year old child while in foster but are a bit overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of young

Duke needs a home!

Duke was brought to us as a “stray” a few days ago, it was later confirmed that it was his owner who brought him in. He is an Akita and will be 2 years old on June 15th, we hope he doesn’t have to celebrate his birthday in the shelter! He has previously lived with kids and did well with them. He is dog selective, being dominate towards other dogs (common for this breed). He knows his basic commands, is very food motivated, crate trained, and house trained. He is true to his breed by being stubborn, very intelligent, and goofy. He would excel in a home they understand his breed or breeds similar to his. He is a great boy who is always happy to meet new humans. We hope someone scoops him up quickly!
